Yet we are supposed to believe that Moshiach is still coming.
What about the year 6,000

DeleteWhere is the source for your quote from Rashi?
ReplyDeleteRashi Sanhedrin 97b
DeleteA similar interesting phenomenon is found each time any political or natural event of note happens. You will find countless people saying stuff like "things are so bad moshiach must be coming right now". They are totally forgetting that if moshiach is coming when things are at their very worst they have to get worse than 1941 for that to happen; I sincerely hope they are not correct about that.
ReplyDeleteAs an example, when Obama was elected, people were saying stuff like "he's so terrible for Israel the only answer possible could be that moshiach will come before his inauguration". Never mind that moshiach decidedly did not come between hitler's election and inauguration.
It's odd that Rashi predicted Moshaich would come before he was born.
ReplyDeleteMoshaich is a wishful thinking and will almost certainly never come. So sad for people to be placated with fantasy, appeased with nonsense, and place hope in a pipe dream. The Talmud just makes up stuff. First it writes something like Moshaich will come when belief in Hashem is eroded, then somebody else says no, he will come when belief in Hashem is widespread etc: They do not have a clue.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't very impressive. That jewish scholars were hopeful and admittedly wishful says nothing of the core doctrine.
